Google Vids: same face, counted in quota
Google's video app now makes AI clips with Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash. There's no per-second price: you get a monthly allowance with your Google plan, and every retry uses some of it.
Is it Veo's replacement?
Partly. Vids is an app, not a model. Until this summer its AI clips used Veo 3.1. Since July 2026 they use Gemini Omni, and since Sep 23, 2026 Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash.
Veo itself isn't gone. On Oct 22, 2026 only the Gemini API's Veo 3.1 preview models shut down. Veo 3.1 carries on as a GA model on Google Cloud (see the Veo page), and on the Gemini API Google points developers to Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash (about $0.10/s at 720p).
What you can set
- Length: pick an exact duration from 3 to 10 seconds. Scenes can be extended.
- Resolution: 720p or 1080p, and you can upscale earlier AI clips to 1080p.
- Shape: landscape 16:9 or portrait 9:16, at 24 fps.
- Character tools: up to 7 reference images as "Ingredients", preset AI avatars, and on some plans a personal avatar of yourself.
Every generated clip carries an invisible SynthID watermark. Google's help page also says generated videos are "for use only within Vids", so you make and export your video in Vids.

What a kept shot "costs" here
Retries still cost you. They just come out of seconds instead of dollars. Say each kept 8-second shot takes 4 tries:
- 500 seconds a month (Business Standard or AI Pro): 32 seconds per kept shot, so about 15 kept shots a month.
- 200 seconds a month (Business Starter): about 6 kept shots.
- Free personal account (6 clips): about 1 kept shot.
Shorter clips stretch the allowance. A 5-second shot with 4 tries uses 20 seconds.
